services, which reflect the reality that architecture and
construction are inseperable. GKKWorks approach recalls the
master builders of the past and represents a new knowledge-based
methodology in building design and development – a methodology
uniquely suited to the challenges of today’s design and construction environment.
Business Situation
As part of its services GKKWorks also provides constructability review services.
This calls for GKKWorks to review the drawings submitted by architects and
subconsutlants before the building gets constructed. Traditionally this is done
using excel sheets where GKKWorks would review the drawings and send comments
to architects and subconsultants.
The architects and subconsultants would then review the
excel sheets and make changes to drawings and send it back to GKKWorks. This was an
arduous process. To stay in competition, GKKWorks had to prove a tool that will help enhance and speed up the constructability review process. AEC Tek with its experience in dealing with the
AEC industry was called to use IT as an enabler to speed up this process.
The Solution
AEC Tek did a business process analysis and created a process flow diagram. A optimal process was suggested that will help speed up the process. This process was then web enabled. The solution currently works in a web browser and allows:
